NEVER BEEN
KISSED
This movie has been done before.
Can you say... "Clueless"? Drew Barrymore plays this
newspaper editor-turned-reporter who has to enroll back into
high school at the age of 26. Josie Gellar, her character, was
a total nerd in high school. She was teased, made fun of, and
humiliated in front of the whole school. So, needless to say,
she has to go back and become the most popular girl at school.
With the help of her loser-jock brother, she regains the confidence
and becomes the envy of everyone at school. Then she makes a
story out of it and falls in love with one of her teachers. I
was not looking forward to seeing this movie. It looked kinda
dumb, but we had nothing to do on a Saturday night and saw it
with a few friends. I guess I was pleasantly surprised, probably
because I was expecting a pile of crap. It was decent. Her brother
was pretty funny, and there were some pretty classic lines. Anyway,
I guess it's a tolerable date flick, but I wouldn't go out of
my way to see it.

TRUE CRIME
"True
Crime" is Clint Eastwood's latest movie. He plays an aging
newspaper reporter who tries to get a man on death row out of
jail before he is executed for a crime he didn't commit. Eastwood's
character is an alcoholic, and is a pretty poor father, but is
somewhat likeable all the same. I guess he's too old to pull
off Dirty Harry anymore, but in all of his movies (like this),
he's got an attitude and seems to piss off his supervisors. The
movie was decent, but I was glad I only payed for a matinee.
The plot was pretty predictable, and I really could see most
of it coming. However, I really thought it was kind of a letdown.
Eastwood's character was a jerk! And I don't mean he's a bad-ass
with the world against him, and he gets his man. I mean he was
a terrible father and husband, and was a total barfly who drove
drunk everywhere. I guess in this day and age it's a little hard
to swallow. It does happen, but he tries to glorify it (but I
don't think really pulls it off). Not my favorite Eastwood flick,
but it was okay.

SHAKESPEARE
IN LOVE
Okay,
I gotta admit, this movie was not my top choice to see. Gimme
a break, with a title like "Shakespeare in Love", you've
got two strikes against you before you even walk in the door.
A love story about Shakespeare? I Hhated Shakespeare in high
school and I hate love movies! So, I guess I expected the worst
when I walked in the theater. The movie was tolerable, and I
even chuckled a few times during the movie. The basic plot revolved
around Shakespeare and the latest love of his life (he was depicted
as a total player), and his half-assed attempts in writing plays.
The guy was usually screwing around, and he'd throw together
a few chapters of a play in a night or so. At any rate, during
the movie is when he wrote "Romeo and Juliet", while
seducing a rich young girl (Gwennyth Paltrow) that was to be
married off to some jackass.
- The movie was interesting
enough to keep my attention throughout the movie, and had some
pretty humorous scenes near the end. Overall, it's not on my
top 10 list, but it's a good date flick. She'll enjoy it most
likely and it's not a total bore. Plus you get to see Gwennyth
Paltrow naked! Woo-hoo!
