Beastie Boys / Hello
Nasty
- The Beasties are back! I've been a
Beastie Boy fan since the Eighties, but I really feel this may
be their best album yet. With such hits as "Remote Control",
"Intergalactic", and others popping up every day, I
really love this album. The sound is really fresh (as in never
been done), yet it's still classic Beastie Boy material. It never
stops spinning in my car CD player. The Beastie Boys are one
of the few bands I've never seen live, but I'd love to see them
next time they come around. A++

Outstanding CD. I really liked "Get Away" when I heard
it on the radio, and I was tempted to buy it. However, it wasn't
until I heard the song "Thinking of You" and "I
belong to You" on the radio as well. They are both killer
songs, and Classic Lenny Kravitz. The whole CD is mesmerizing.
One of those CD's that grows and grows on you - gets better every
time. A-

I like ya Lenny, but this one's a little too 70's for me.
Don't get me wrong, I like the classic 70's stuff and am generally
a Lenny Kravitz fan, but this one has me yearning for polyester!
The CD isn't bad, but it's likely to put you to sleep.
It's decent date music, but be careful using it to study with.
You might wake up several hours later wodering how you'll ever
pass that mid-term! B-
U2 / Best
of 1980 - 1990, B-Sides
Dick says...
How can you not like U2? They are one of the greatest rock bands
of all time, and this CD attests to that. If you're lucky enough
to get the Special Edition with all of the B-sides, you're in
for a treat - a rare gem of U2 songs that were previously very
hard to find. Get the Special Edition while it lasts; it's already
hard to find. Look to see U2's Best of 1990 - 2000 some late
1999 or 2000. A+

This CD has been a long time in coming. It's certainly
a must have for any CD collection. This collection of the
most memorable U2 music of the 1980's is sure to become a classic
for generations to come. The Special Edition with the B-sides
is not only a compilation of U2's best music, but all of those
B-sides that we've all heard once or twice but have rarely found
at a record store for a reasonable price. To most the B-sides
are like having a brand new U2 CD! A+

Cake is from Sacramento, so I guess I'm a little partial to them.
This is a really good CD, and you should buy it if you are familiar
with Cake's music. "Never There" was instantly addicting
the first time I heard it, and other songs such as "Sheep
Go To Heaven" and "Let Me Go" are also outstanding
songs. B+

I must say I haven't given this one the full listen-through.
The music I have heard on this one is typical of Cake with the
unusual Pop sound. The music is catchy after you've heard
it a few times, but it's certainly not an instant attraction.

Dick Says...
This CD I could do without. I was disappointed that "Uninvited"
wasn't on this CD, it really should have been. "Thank U"
is a really good song, and I liked that a lot. I also really
liked Track 15 as well, however I felt the rest of the album
wasn't very good. It was a pretty ho-hum followup to Jagged Little
Pill, and I guess I expected more. Not my pick of the litter.

Alanis really gets in touch with reality on this one. Her
style changes completely from that of Jagged Little Pill, and
it's certainly a change for the better. She moves away
from the anger and screaming of the first and moves to a more
melodic and bluesy feel. "Thank U" is just the
beginning. I think we will, once again, see Alanis come
out one single at a time for another smash hit. This one really
is great! A
