What is planning?

Planning is an organized method of problem solving. A problem is presented, and planning organizes the information and concepts researched into a method of solving that specific problem. Often planning denotes a committee’s working to solve a formidable problem, whereas problem solving indicates an individual or small group method. Planning is where new ideas and scientific theories are researched and put into practice to hopefully allow new technology to make our lives better and more productive.

The Problem Solving Process:

    1. Determine what is the problem that needs to be addressed. (find the problem, not just the symptoms)
    2. Research that problem within its system.
    3. List solutions based upon the research.
    4. Determine the best solution for the situation.
    5. Implement that solution.
    6. Evaluate the level of success or failure of the solution.
      1. If the chosen solution isn’t successful, choose a new solution based upon the new knowledge of the problem that has been gained from the above process.
      2. Even successful solutions may need adjusting.
