Golden Kangaroos Marching Band
The Golden Kangaroos Marching Band is the Australian Band of the Somme.
In October 1997, the French Consul General of the Somme appointed the Golden Kangaroos as the Australian Band of the Somme. The Golden Kangaroos have marched at Australian, French, and Commonwealth War Memorials in historic villages including; Villers Bretonneux, Bullecourt, Hamel, and a special ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe with the French Marine Band before the Australian Minister for Veterans Affairs and many French delegates.
The Golden Kangaroos have been to the Somme area 5 times (1989, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2003).
