Hi and thank you for visiting my page. My name is Pedus C. Eweama, a native of Nigeria and a senior Nursing Student at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) in historic Savannah, Georgia. I have strong passion for Politics and compassion for humanity. It is a great privilege and honor to be elevated by my peers to serve as the 2nd Vice President of the Georgia Association of Nursing Students (GANS) for 2003-2004. It is a great opportunity for me to learn and grow. I am humbled and will discharge my duties with courage, competence and commitment. Besides my commitment to my education and GANS, I am involved in various local and International Humanitarian and Human Rights issues, including those concerned with education, health promotion and disease prevention, debt cancellation, poverty alleviation and other global issues as time permits. To this end, I co-founded Child's Aid, Survival and Development International (CASDI), an organization dedicated to the welfare and survival of children. I am a member of the Community Rights Project (CRP), International Society of Human Rights (ISHR) and Taking-It-Global (TIG) among others. In the pursuit of my lifelong dream of being published, I authored the book, When Things Go Wrong: Concepts of Change, which was published by Xlibris, a strategic partner of Random House. My book page is www.xlibris.com/PedusChidiEweama. I am a member of the National Deans List, Who is Who among American Colleges and Universities and an inductee into the Sigma Theta Tau International Society. As the 2nd Vice President of GANS, I would ensure that my responsibilities are carried out with diligence and purpose. As the Resolutions and Bylaws Committee Chair, I plan to work with other members of the committee to amend the relevant areas of our Bylaws to be in line with contemporary reality. I plan to submit to NSNA the resolution on breastfeeding passed by the House of Delegates (HOD) during the 51st annual convention of GANS held this past October. There are also critical subjects that have not been addressed by previous resolutions and in due course, I plan to present to the Board of Directors, important areas we could focus on when writing resolutions. I will ensure that at least one resolution is submitted to the 2004 GANS House of Delegates for consideration. I am also personally working on a resolution I intend to submit to NSNA for consideration by the HOD during the forthcoming Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Another key area I will focus on this year is working towards the establishment of a Center for the Preservation of GANS Historic Archive, so that we would preserve our history for posterity. There are several legislative issues that would affect the future of Nursing, and in collaboration with the Legislative Director, we would explore avenues and opportunities to make the voice of GANS prominent in those issues that affect the future of their members. I will strive to ensure that GANS creates an enabling environment for nursing students in Georgia to thrive and succeed, making it less tasking to sail through the rocky waters of nursing school and slippery terrain of emerging into the world of professional nursing. You comments and insights are always welcome. Welcome aboard! Once again, it is a privilege to be given this opportunity to serve. Leadership is an engine that navigates on the wheels of conscience and with my vision, experience and insight. I will work with other GANS Board members to ensure that GANS achieves its potentials. I believe that failing to plan is planning to fail and as we embrace a viable, formidable and strategic plan for 2003-2004, we ought to continually assess, plan, implement and evaluate our plan of action. It is, therefore, imperative that we work together to achieve our objectives and as we hand over to a new dispensation in 2004, we ought to have a reason to look back with pride and conclude that it has been a mission accomplished because GANS is better that we found it. |
