The COMMUNITY SERVICE Projects of
ALPHA CHI LAMBDA

Community Service is the foundation of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Brothers of Alpha Chi Lambda take their role of being Community Servants, very seriously. Our chapter projects are listed below, with links to the various brochures that were developed to help get the message out. Each project is conducted with the aims of our great Fraternity in mind; Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for all Mankind.

The MALE INITIATIVE Program

is a collective agreement, that strives to increase the participation of Fathers and other Significant Males(grandfathers, uncles, stepfathers, friends) in Head Start programs and in the Development and Guidance of their child or children.

GO to HIGH SCHOOL, Go to COLLEGE

Concentrates on the importance of of youth completing High School and going on to either a Technical School or College/University. Computer literacy, for our youth is also a goal of the program.

PROJECT ALPHA

Explores the problems associated withteen pregnancy from the Male perspective. The program seeks to assist young men in developing an understanding go their role in preventing untimely pregnancies through responsive attitudes on their sexuality. With today's heightened sensitivity to sexually transmitted diseases and physical abuse, this initiative has taken a much greater role in helping young African-American men make a positive transition to adulthood.
STOP the VIOLENCE

Focuses on factors that may cause or contribute to violence in our communities. It calls attention to what part Anger and Frustration, Stress, ego Defense, Unemployment, lack of Education and skills and the role each may play. The project preaches Love as a way of curbing violence, by increasing the peace.

ALPHA BEAUTILLION

Emphasizes Personal Development, that employs skill training and attitude changes, Academic tutoring, to help with improving grades and study habits, Leadership training and development, mixed with opportunities to enjoy sporting events, public forums and the and the arts. The project is designed to provide the young male with positive role models, and the opportunity to interact with other males of similar abilities and goals.
