Alpha Rho Chi Fraternity, Incorporated is a national professional co-educational fraternity limiting its membership to students of Architecture and the Allied Arts. It was founded at the Universities of Illinois and Michigan on 11 April 1914, to organize and unite in fellowship the architectural students in the universities and colleges of America and to combine their efforts so as to promote the artistic, scientific and practical efficiency of the younger members of the profession. Alpha Rho Chi is one of 34 national and international fraternities which consolidated into the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA) in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1977.
These are the chapters of Alpha Rho Chi. Each chapter is named after an important architectural figure in ancient Egyptian, Greek or Roman history or mythology. Our chapter is named after Seshait (SEH-shah-EET), the Egyptian goddess of Learning, Wisdom and Architecture. Our cadence mark, which is the wallpaper for this page, is the hieroglyph for her name. Currently, there are 17 active chapters throughout the nation. For more information about this or any other chapter, contact The Webmaster or visit the National Homepage.
The Seshait Chapter was founded on 13 March 1994, becoming the first chapter at a Historically Black College or University. We are the newest chapter of the Fraternity and are dedicated to uplifting all students and providing them with tools to successfully matriculate through Florida A&M University and become practicing Professionals. Our members come from from all over the country and the Caribbean. To find out more about us, click on The Family. Be sure to check out our Photo Album as well as the Seshait Alumni Homepage.
