Phytoremediation
and the
Tuba City, AZ UMTRA
Site
- Phytoremediation
is the use of plants to clean or remediate the environment. This page is
to be the center for posting the results and background information of
a study done by a Tuba City High School student Eliza Nelson. I will be
continuing studies done by Dr. Colleen Kelley of NAU and her associates.
They have done studies which show that the roots of water
hyacinth can remove Europium (similar
to Uranium but less toxic) from water. This study will hopefully show
that the dried roots of water hyacinth will also remove Europium from water.
This study will also be done such that it can apply to the clean up of
the ground water at the Tuba
City UMTRA Site.
