About
the band:
The
"Silence 4" started in 1995 in Leiria, when David and the other two members,
Tozé and Rui decided to create a band of their own. Has to the only
female voice in the group, Sofia, she became a member when, the other three
eard her singing, and playing guitar, they just loved her voice and invited
her to join them.
After
getting to know each other, they retired in an isolated house in the country
and created the sounds all portuguese know now (some of their musics are,
or will be, in my mp3 download page). After creating all those great musics,
they went to search for a music editor. This part was the hardest because
it's hard in Portugal to find an editing company interested in backing
up people who sing in english, and because their music has almost filled
with acustics, not very common. They always said that the fact they don't
sing in portuguese doesn't mean they don't like it, but, has David explained
it's just simplier to compose. Although their preferences they had to sing
two songs in portuguese, they are: "Eu não sei dizer" (in the context
of the music it means something like "I have no words") and "Sexto Sentido"
(Sixth sense).
The
event that blasted the to the top was the participation on a project against
racism, "Sons de todas as cores" (Sonds of all colours). They had the chance
to show their music through their version of the Erasure's "A Little Respect",
which started to be played in all radio frequecies. After that they started
to be noticed, and Poligram contacted them to make a cd "Silence Becomes
It"
