Most people have no
clue that Dazzle^ studies....or probably even that she has good
sense! Whether or not I do may remain to be seen, but I *DID*
graduate with my BA from Lenoir-Rhyne College (although it took me FAR too
long due to ill health & personal family problems you
wouldn't *believe*)--with Departmental Honors! Now, I'm working on my Master's degree at the University of South Carolina-Columbia. I *hope* to eventually earn my PhD in Sociology.
After spending Spring Semester '99 in the dorms--an experience, to say the least! *G*--I graduated May 15! FINALLY!!!!!!!! Further, I was accepted to the University of Virginia graduate school in Sociology--although I had to decline due to my oldest brother's sudden death, my husband's mother's serious health problems, & other family problems. I've had to let that dream go for now...but I actually achieved it!
According to my Profs,
I am an "intellectual"....though I love people and am
also very 'down-to-earth'. What does all this mean??? Good
question! Perhaps it means I'm equal parts smart, crazy, and just
love being with people....tho I DO take my
education quite seriously: my overall GPA at the BA level was
3.97 (out of a 4.0); I was a member of five honor societies (I was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa while working on
my Associate of Arts degrees); I created and was editor (& entire staff, actually) of The Social Enquirer....a
sociological newsletter we printed and distributed campus-wide at Lenoir-Rhyne; I was also President of Alpha Kappa Delta, our Sociology honor society, during 1996-97.
Needless to say, I take
education seriously...and I have this immense hunger for knowledge that I just can't ever seem to ever satisfy. For a glimpse at my honors thesis, look at my research page! :)
