I want the audience to be amused by how angry my character gets.

Betty's longtime live-in boyfriend has just came home late on their anniversary, but to keep himself out of trouble he has come home with a gift. Betty was a little mad before but once she sees the present she is happy and excited to open it. When she opens it to find a blender, or some other appliance and/or weight loss suppliment, she is shocked and quickly gets furious at her boyfriend.
Who is your character? (Gender, age, personality, profession, etc…)
Betty is 28 years old and attends Havard Law school that she works two jobs to pay for. She's very hard working and independant.
Where is this scene being depicted? What is the setting?
In the kitchen near the front door to their shared apartment. The gift is on the kitchen table.
What events precede this event?
Her boyfriend has just come home late on their anniversary, but has a present to make up for it. Betty was waiting up for him in the kitchen, all dressed up to go out.
What is the motivation to look into the box? Why are they reacting in their particular manner?
It is their anniversary and her boyfriend has brought home a big gift box for her. Betty loves getting presents, so she is excited to open it.
