So what am I doing? Living in Evanston with my husband, Ken, and
three children: Nick (16 in 4 days, and then he can have the car keys...
permanently, as far as I'm concerned!), Michelle (14), and Hope (12). I
love them as teenagers--much more fun and interesting than as children.
The only thing I find painful is having to relearn enough algebra and Latin
to help them when needed. Luckily, Ken is much better in both topics.
As for my career, I was a psychologist and therapist until Hope was born. After years of submersion in total parenthood, I am now a children's book illustrator (and occasional author). The pay is dreadful (works out to about 10 cents per hour, at the speed I work) but I love it. Check out my 3 books on Amazon.com! I can't help recalling that I'm basically doing now what I did in high school (as general illustrator for various class publications), and all that college and grad school was just a diversion. After 25 years in Chicago, I still miss the east coast. And people
(including my children--ESPECIALLY my children) continue to make fun of
the way I say "orange."
