Susan and I continue to live and enjoy living
in NYC and are in the same apartment we bought when we married in '79.
We have 2 kids, Nicholas (almost 11) who is an avid hockey player
(goalie) on 2 teams. We spend most weekends between September
and March gallavanting around NJ, Long Island and Westchester County
for hockey games and tournaments. He has played in the Floyd Hall Arena
on the campus of Montclair State---quite an impressive facility.
Our daughter, Cecilia (aka Ceci), is almost 9, takes cello lessons and
likes to horseback ride. Four years ago we also took into our family a
young fellow named Winn Jewett, now 19 and a senior at Millbrook School.
His mom was our kids' nursery school teacher and became terminally ill,
asking us to look after Winn. He has truly become part of our family
and our kids now refer to Winn (and his older sister Whitney, age 24) as
their older brother and sister. Winn has been accepted at Lewis &
Clark and is awaiting word from Colorado College, his first choice.
As Susan says, he has been a blessing to our entire family.
Two years ago Susan went back to work (after eight years of full time mommying) and took a job with an internet company called iVillage, a web site specializing in issues of interest to women. I can vouch, however, for the fact that there is a lot of stuff that is definitely interesting and gender neutral. Check it out at ivillage.com. I continue to work as an institutional salesman at what is now called Credit Suisse First Boston. I am now the longest-lived salesman there (15 1/2 years). While I reached the 1/2 century mark 2 weeks ago, I feel
15 years younger (at least). I have to admit that it feels weird,
though, to be in one's fifties.
June, 2001 Update: In the wake of the First Boston/DLJ merger, after 17 years plus,
I was "given the opportunity to explore other alternatives." After
four months of interviewing, looking, networking, etc., I landed at Scudder
Investments in the Private Investment Counsel group. We manage money
for affluent individuals, as well as foundations and charitable organizations.
I am enjoying my third career and have found the change stimulating.
In fact, I had toyed for some time with going from the "sell side" to the
"buy side" and as a result am pleased with the way things have worked out.
My work address is:
Kids are well, with puberty upon us. Nick continues to be into hockey and sailing. Ceci rides and plays the cello. Susan, who worked for a few years at iVillage, is doing some internet-related work for Pearson. We would love to see CHS folks here in NYC.
