Let's talk about MTV

Back to Home
Let's talk about MTV's music. Music, alone, is a very powerful medium.
Ever find yourself swinging to a groovy beat you hear on the street, in your
wheels, or even on the bus? That's because music, alone, has the power of
getting into your subconscious making it play over and over again in our
heads with lyrics like "Hit me baby, one more time." from Britney Spears or
"She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain." from
Ricky Martin. The list goes on.
Lyrics nowadays are about love, sex and, to some extreme, violence and
Satanism! Artists like Marilyn Manson (who is actually a guy) profess to
being Satanists in their songs and onstage. Long gone are the days of
backmasking songs. Why? because nowadays, people don't care! They love it!
It shocks and excites them!
Add the powerful medium of music with equally powerful visuals and it's a
lethal combination. Moving images leave nothing to the imagination! Fast
cuts, blinding colors, sexy guys 'n gals doing the wild thing on screen!
Bikini-clad girls swinging while singing, "Give it to me baby! Uh huh! Uh
huh!" That's MTV!
Young people today are called the MTV generation and this is with reason.
According to the latest survey by the AMI Pax that measures cable viewership
in key Asian cities including metro Manila and the AC Neilsen Cab Sat
survey, MTV is the leading music channel for the Asian youth. And the
numbers continue to grow! MTV Networks Asia operates three 24-hour
programming services with a combined distribution of more than 100 million
homes! In the Philippines alone, MTV reaches 6 million Filipino households!
The power of MTV cannot be ignored because the facts speak for themselves.
Don't let your guard down!
