I recently completed
academic and research studies in Technologies of Education at Harvard University.
I will graduate in December 2001 from Anderson College with a Bachelor's
of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing. I enjoy delving into the
intellectual challenges and opportunities posed by the instructors at Harvard University
and Anderson College. In addition, I thoroughly enjoy the convenience to establish myself
as a strategic role in the advanc ement of small
business websites in Anderson, South Carolina and other communities throughout the nation.
I grew up in Lyman,
South Carolina, in the southeastern region of the United States. I was Lyman,
Duncan, and Wellford's first corporate website provider, serving non-profit organizations
and small businesses at age 16. I also founded a startup in high school, Thompson
Web Designs & Graphics, which has currently merged with Upstate
Interactive!
Outside of
classroom studies, I have conducted extensive research with top education professors and
instructors in the field of educational technologies including Past the Foundation,
Present the Integration and Future the Correlation:
Creating Opportunities for Distance Learning through the Advancements in Technology,
The Concepts of Adequacy & Equity in Testing the Constitutionality of State School
Finance Systems, and others including Evaluation of Anderson College Career
Services with the Professional Standards of the
National Association of Colleges and Employers: Governance
and Management.
The digital divide is a term
coated to minority groups in many facets who do not have access to technology and is one
of my major areas of research. As a current entrepreneur and future educator, I will
continue to try as diligently as possible to create more technology avenues whether it be
in the form of developing websites or serving as a mentor to students in after school
technology programs.
Studies consume much of my
time, but I have tried to enjoy the extra curricular opportunities available on campus. I
have been president of the Student Alumni Council, the Collegiate Business Forum, the Wall
Street Club, and Minorities Involved in Change. I have also shared my experiences as
secretary of the Education Association. Although titles do not impress me much, I find it
necessary to demonstrate that I work well in teams and are goal oriented. In
addition, I am the website developer for Anderson College's annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. celebration which have allowed me to work directly with students, instructors,
and professors in many different facets.
Recreationally, I thoroughly
enjoy playing and watching golf. I am a Tiger Woods fanatic and admire his work
ethic and humbleness. He has motivated many people to pursue the game. The Anderson area
has a few golf courses including Cobb's Glenn, Brookstone Meadows, Boscobel in Clemson,
and others within an hour away including River Falls in Duncan.
Entrepreneurially and in the
future, I am interested in the impact that technology has on teaching and learning. I want
to explore the ways in which technology affects academic achievement in urban communities.
However, I am still interested in serving a strategic role in startup companies in the
areas of business development, brand marketing, and overall organizational re-development
where I may exercise my experience.
For further information on my technology endeavors please see my resume. If I
can help you or your organization in any way please contact me.
Sincerely,
M. Henri' Thompson
