Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet.
Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened,
ambition inspired, and success achieved.

~ Helen Keller ~

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.

~ D.H. Lawrence ~

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.
The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling,
which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight,
nothing which is more important than his own personal safety,
is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free
unless made and kept so by the exertion of better men than himself.

~ John Sturt Mill ~

When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant
I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be 21, I was astonished
at how much the old man had learned in seven years.

~ Mark Twain ~

My Life Closed Twice Before Its Close

My life closed twice before its close;
It yet remains to see
If Immortality unveil
A third event to me,

So huge, so hopeless to conceive,
As these that twice befell.
Parting is all we know of heaven,
And all we need of hell.

~ Emily Dickinson ~

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

~ Robert Frost ~

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I .....
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

~ Robert Frost ~

Good Books:

Well it all started with the Harry Potter books. I've never been much of a reader till someone said that the Harry Potter books were good. I decided to check it out for myself and have been hooked since. When I was younger I thought reading would kill me. By now I decided that it probably would not hurt me to read a whole book from front to back. So that's how it all started. I have read more books this past year, then I ever have during my whole entire life. So take some time and check out all the good books I have read.
