OBJECTIVE:
I am experienced in graphic, advertising & layout design, editing & writing and would like to find a job that challenges my potential and allows me to explore various areas of my ability. I have been expanding my knowledge with each position I have held, and I am continuously learning.

EXPERIENCE:
10/2007 - PRESENT: Holiday Retirement Corp., Salem, OR
Co-Manager - Holiday Retirement Corp. has over 320 independent retirement communities all over the U.S., Canada and Australia. They have been around since 1971 and, until recently, have only marketed their communities by word of mouth. In 2008, they did some national advertising, but our cookie drops are legendary.
As a Co-Manager, I am responsible for assisting the manager in running the building. We have a full-time housekeeping, kitchen and wait staff, as well as bus, activities and maintenance coordinators. My building in CT, had 177 residents, the 4th largest property in the fleet.
Currently, we are opening a new building in Kittery, ME. We are responsible for marketing, as well as, running the building.

4/2006 - 10/2007: The Resident newspaper, Pawcatuck, CT
Account Executive— The Resident newspaper is Connecticut's leading entertainment newspaper. We cover all of Connecticut and the southern part of Rhode Island. I am in charge of selling advertising for the newspaper. Along with that, I write and take photograpsh as well. This allows me to travel around the state and make some great contacts.

8/2006 - 4/2006: Expressway Lube Center, Groton, CT
Fluids Technician — At Expressway, we work on cars. To be more specific, we manage the fluids that keep the cars running. Every few thousand miles, the oil, power steering, coolant, transmission and differential fluids need changing. We flush or change the fluids and filters in order to keep the cars going. It's all about time, so we try to push through 60 to 90 cars a day.

9/2005 - 8/2006: Wal-Mart Tire Lube Express, Reynoldsburg, OH and Norwich, CT
Greeter/Technician — I was in charge of creating the customers’ orders on the hand-held computer. I had to sell them the services and recommend various products for them. I am also certified through Wal-Mart as a lube and tire technician.

2/2000 - 7/2005: Purebred Publishing Inc., Reynoldsburg, OH
Brown Swiss Bulletin Editor — The magazine is an internationally distributed purebred dairy cattle magazine. I coordinated all aspects of the magazine from ad sales to layout and design. It is a full-color, monthly magazine that has been in existence since the early 1900's.
As editor, I had to coordinate ad sales and design; the editorial and editorial calendar, which included free-lancers; and the layout and printing of the magazine.
I was able to travel to various shows, sales and other events worldwide. My extended duties included international public relations for the Brown Swiss breed and Association.

6/1999 - 11/1999: Ohio Quarter Horse Association, Richwood, OH
Editorial Assistant — The editor, Connie Lechleitner, hired me to assist her in the design and publishing of the Ohio Quarter Horse News and the All-American Quarter Horse Congress Program Guide. I also worked 7a.m. to 7p.m., every day, for three weeks, in the press room during the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, the world’s largest single-breed horse show.

My major duties were to assist with coordinating the Farm Science Review, an annual event where organizations and companies come together showcase new farming practices and products.

6/1997 - 9/1997: Farm and Dairy newspaper, Salem, OH
Editorial Intern - At the weekly paper, we covered events concerning agriculture in Penn., Ohio and West Virginia. I traveled to different shows, county fairs, auctions and other events to promote the paper, take photos and write articles. We were required to take all the photographs to illustrate our stories.

6/1995 - 9/1995: Ohio Department of Agriculture, Reynoldsburg, OH
Communications Intern - ODA’s communications department had me generate Ohio commodity fact sheets, stories for the ODA Quarterly Newsletter, media relations for the press, designing and revamping the ODA website, handle media relations at special events and create multimedia presentations. The department uses this demonstration at the Ohio State Fair and the Farm Science Review.
