Separation
Tic tok went the clock
Faster and faster
As I got further and further away from here
Separation takes on many avenues
The further away I am from here the safer I am
As I drive down a deserted US highway 41
Going further and further away
I begin to miss what I am leaving
No clue where I am going or where I am coming from
I become frozen in time
As I beat on the steering wheel
To the unfamiliar rhythm of the CD
Blaring over my 12 amps
Wondering if I will be remembered
Or forgotten slowly
While I am separated
Or if I will forget then the select few
Who I talked to in this such a town of the weird and unusual
As I remember and wake up a tear slowly falls
over my rough unshaven
Cheek and down to where it is separated from my
Triply doubled double chin
I remember as I try to begin a new
My true friends
Lauralyn the great
Bill George the superb
Lisa the wonderful
Laura the lovely
Jesse the joyous
St. Mike
Buddha the stupendous
And all the others
Who no matter how separated from them I am
Forget my weakness and remember my strength
Those are my true inseparable friends.
