About Me
Well then. I am Matthew Spencer Neighbour, otherwise known as Matt. I was born in Lincoln on 6/9/1979 (making me 22) and the influence of that decade shows when I wear my grey velvet suit. I have just finished studying for a Masters degree (MEng hons) in Electronic Engineering with Music Technology Systems (which is very hard) at the University of York . I graduated with a first class degree!! (WooHoo!) That means that I have learnt how to design mixing desks, synthesisers, CD players etc.
I am a Christian, which plays an overriding part in my life. I go to St Michael-le-Belfrey in York and New Life Christian Fellowship in Lincoln. I was very much involved in the University of York Christian Union , I was selected to coordinate the PA team last year. That means sit at the back and twiddle with the sound. I also 'do' the PA at St. Mikes and occasionally at New Life.
As well as engineering live sound, I do a fair bit of recording too. So far I have recorded and mixed (ie. from conception to finished product) two EPs and various demo songs and mixed a live album. I work mostly with Cubase VST and Nuendo on the PC platform, with an M-Audio interface. I have also used analogue 1/2" 16-track and own a good old cassette 4-track. I like to make myself available as a resource to local Christian artists so they can get their material down.
Hey, that's not it! I'm a musician too. I am classically trained on the trumpet and managed to pass my ABRSM Grade 6 with merit before leaving school. I played the trumpet in York soul band 'The Fourteen' who were very popular on campus, but have alas split up due to people graduating. I also play keyboard/synthesiser. I am by no means a piano player but I like to play Hammond organ parts, synth pad and electric piano. I also play wierd electronic sounds when the mood suits! This is mainly in the band 'Zambooka'. We are quite indescribeable really, instrumental, crazy and cool come to mind! I use Korg, Roland and moog instruments.
My favourite bands include:
Radiohead
