In 1953, a group of men in Zeta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, decided they needed another organization to help them with projects on campus and in the city of Bowling Green, Ohio. After much discussion, it was decided to begin a sorority whose members would dedicate themselves to developing leadership and cooperation by promoting service to the university community, to the community at large, to the members of the sorority, and to the nations of the world. Hence Alpha Chapter of Omega Phi Alpha was formed at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio in June 1967.
