Here is a wire-frame representation of an ornamental wardrobe, which I designed over the Summer. The wardrobe was designed on paper, then draughted on a CATIA CAD computer system in three dimensions.
What is rapid prototyping? It is the process by which the data on the right can become a real, solid model in a matter of hours. A laser builds the model from liquid plastic, or in this case from solid powder.
The model was 80mm high and was assembled from 20 separate pieces (designed flat-packed).
There was actually a commercial purpose for the work, but let's not get into all that. |
