BASIC JOB ENTRY SKILLS
Students who complete the Construction Technology program are
assured of gaining a variety of
skills that will aid them in getting and keeping that all important
"first job." Employers who have taken
Construction Technology students in work study placements have consistently
reported that
Bev Facey's students meet all of the skill requirements they feel are
necessary for successful job entry.
Positive reports of this kind have been given by cabinet shops, framing
companies, and general contractors.
In most cases the employers report that students not only meet the
job requirements, but often exceed entry level
requirements in almost all categories. Graduates of Bev Facey's
Construction Technology program, then,
have a clearly defined advantage over applicants who have not taken
the opportunity to prepare themselves in this way.
APPRENTICESHIP ARTICULATION
Construction technology courses can earn you advanced standing if you
plan to enter an APPRENTICESHIP.
Students who complete at least twenty-five specified modules may challenge
the first year of the CARPENTRY
apprenticeship. Follow this link to see a copy of the articulation
agreement between Construction Technology and the
apprenticeship board and a list of the twenty-five
modules you will need to take.
AVOCATIONAL (HOBBY) SKILLS
In addition to the clear advantage for future construction professionals,
there are also a number of courses
that would prove useful to the future home owner or wood working hobbyist.
A number of modules will be offered that will
allow students to pursue furniture, cabinet, and even musical instrument
making from the hobbyist's perspective.
