Here are a couple of bands that I think KICK ASS!! I recommend
them to everyone.
emmet swimming |
emmet swimming is one of those bands that kicks ass
because they sound the same live as they do on their studio recordings,
which goes to show you that they have talent. They frequently visit Blacksburg,
VA and I always try to go see them when they come down here. If they ever
make a stop in your town, check them out. You won't be disappointed!

The Cherry Poppin' Daddies |
Cherry Poppin' Daddies come from Eugene, Oregon. They've been around for almost a decade, and I'm glad to see that they're starting to get some recognition! I've never seen these guys perform live, but I've heard that their live shows are better than their CDs. If that's true, I'll be very impressed when I see them. All of their albums are awesome! I recommend "Ferociously Stoned" (their first album) for those those first-time listeners. Don't let their latest album, "Zoot Suit Riot," a compilation of their swing songs, fool you. Swing is not the only style they play. They have an interesting musical style mixing ska, swing, funk, and punk.

Faith No More |
Faith No More kicks ass! Most people probably remember them from their hit song "Epic" back in the early 90s. Lead-singer Mike Patton has one of the coolest vocals of any group -- ever! FNM's style is quite diverse, ranging from harsh screaming to soft and melodic tunes. Their latest album is "Album of the Year," and it's one of my favorites!

Primus |
Primus sucks! But that's okay, because to them that's a compliment. Go figure. Lead-singer and bassist Les Claypool is a god! During Spring Break, I got to witness the power of that which is Primus, at D.C.'s Capitol Ballroom, and it was good. I recommend their album "Suck on This" for first-time listeners. I think it's one of their best!
