- a favorite start page. It includes among
other things, an all-purpose directory with a fast search engine.
Infoseek.Com
- The search engine that started it all, and was one of the best. But now it's junk.
Google.Com
- Currently the best search engine. Check out the Google Toolbar - it's very useful. Not just for searching, it's also got a built-in pop-up blocker! The best!
Shareware.Com
- Used to be a good place to download files. Now it's junk.
Download.Com
- You want to "download" something, then do it there.
GetRight
- (Utility) This is the best way to download files. It will work with Netscape or Internet Explorer and allows you to resume partial downloads.
Shockrave
- (Plug-in) At this site you can download the shockwave plug-in by Macromedia, which allows you to watch videos and play on-line games in real-time.
Eyeball Chat
- (Video Chat) The best video chat software available. I helped write it, though, so my opinion may be biased.
Cosmo Player
- (Plug-in) At this site you can download the Cosmo Player plug-in which allows you to view virtual worlds written in VRML.
CPU Speed test and other benchmarks
- got a new computer and want to see how fast it really is? Maybe thinking about upgrading and you want to compare new computers to your existing system? Then benchmarks are what you are looking for. Results may vary.
