Thank You!
Welcome.
This site is under construction, right now, so pardon our dust!
Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity, is a Greek music fraternity for women. It was founded on June 12, 1903, at the University of Michigan School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Founders were: Elizabeth Campbell, Frances Caspari, Minnie Davis Sherrill, Leila Farlin, Nora Crane Hunt, Mary Storrs Andersen, and Georgina Potts. There are over 90,000 initiated members in SAI; 184 college and 113 alumnae chapters. We also have one international chapter.
The Eta Omicron Chapter has 24 active members, 10 which pledged in Spring of 1998. Our chapter is very involved in promoting music in our community. For example, we received an Impact Grant to fund a Vocal Health Workshop for Community Singers, which had a wonderful turnout. For our Benefit Concert on March 31st, we raised almost $1,000 (not sure on exact figures yet) to go towards the music libraries of one lucky junior and senior high school. We just initiated on March 24th a new Friend of the Arts, Dr. Michael Cleveland, our Music Department Chair, and his wife as a Patroness Member, Mrs. Joan Cleveland.
