HISTORY OF RINPCC
The Raffles Institution National Police Cadet Corps had its
roots even as early as 1965. In 1959, the corps was started first on an
experimental basis. Later on, in 1961, there was a Police Cadet Corps (P.C.C.)
Ordinance, that allowed Schools to set up P.C.C. units.
By 1965, there was some idea of setting up a unit in
Raffles Institution and by January 1966, the first ever R.I.P.C.C. unit in RI
was established.
Back in those days, the cadets learnt a variety of
important skills, for example, Foot-Drills, Law, First Aid, Unarmed Combat etc.
In the 1970s, the newly formed unit was also no stranger to
championship trophies, thus continuing the Rafflesian tradition of glory. In the
1970s, it took part in many competitions, like Foot-Drill, Revolver Shooting
etc. and won many of these competitions, also including Best Unit several times.
