Equator Expeditions, Kathmandu, Nepal, Fall 1998 Assistant Expedition Leader and Safety Kayaker -Supervised and motivated groups of up to 50 people on multi-day whitewater trips. -Responsible for all aspects of expedition safety, including scouting and leading rapids, performing swiftwater rescues, and providing first aid in a wilderness setting.

Newmont Exploration Ltd., Carlin, NV, June-November 1996 Geology intern at Newmont Gold Company's Post Deposit on the Carlin Trend -Actively involved in all aspects of production geology from a sediment-hosted, disseminated gold deposit with reserves exceeding five million ounces. -Performed ore-control duties including collection of geologic data through blasthole mapping and computer-aided kriging to delineate ore, waste, and potentially acid-generating waste. -Updated a model of lithology, alteration, and structure in the Post and Goldbug deposits on Newmont's UNIX-based 3D computer modelling system. -Monitored drill rigs and performed geotechnical logging of core associated with the development drilling of the Goldbug deposit. -Performed data entry duties including digitization of field mapping, spreadsheet management, and preparation of drill-hole data for entry into Newmont's geologic model.
