Inike! (Hello, in Malinke). Welcome to the student cookbook. If you are visiting, you probably already know me. My name is Urska, I'm now a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Siguiri, Guinea. For reference, I used to be a geophysics major at Brown University ( I have happy memories, so I don't want it to be forgotten). I'm currently a grad student at UC San Diego. Anyway, since I really like to cook, I thought I would make this into a sort of student's cookbook. But since no one will ever really read this, I'm not sure if there is any point in doing so. But I like to procrastinate, so I'm doing it anyway. At present, I intend to leave the Full Moon Club page up. It's a nice memory, and who know, perhaps in the far future, we will become active again. For those of you who are wondering, my name is Slovenian. (Slovenia-the little country that looks like a chicken in Central Europe, south of Austria and east of Italy-we used to be part of Yugoslavia). I'm half Slovenian and half American, but I grew up in Austria. Isn't that confusing? This page was last updated on August 26, 2005

Why do I feel that a student cookbook is needed? Well, for one, I love cooking, and would like to share recipes with others. However, I also feel that there is a lack of recipes that meet student needs, so I am taking matters into my own hands and providing some. Hopefully, this page will expand significantly in the new future. I welcome any contributions and suggestions.

The Food Colour GroupsI'd like to share with you my silly theories on eating. Namely, I believe that food should be categorized according to colour, not the usual dairy, grains, meat, fats, etc. If one eats a large variety of different coloured food, one strikes a healthy balance and obtains all of one's vitamins and minerals. By the way, I know this theory has come to surface in some magazines lately, but I thought of first :). The colours are:By the way, artificially coloured foods don't count, as long as it's not blue jello! OK, I know, I'm missing an important colour:brown. Brown, as in chocolate, and brownies, and coffee, for those of you who drink it. But those aren't healthy, so I can't include brown, otherwise, I'd have an excuse to regularly eat chocolate. That wouldn't be good. Not that brown doesn't have good things, such as bread and meat. But to keep things simpler, I've included them elsewhere. It's all a matter of opinion anyway. And I made this up, so I can do whatever I want. Anyway, that is all for now. Until next time! |
