Meet the Chief and his Family

Dan started his career in law enforcement over 15 years ago, in California. After attending 2 years of college, he worked in the private security industry.

In 1987, he was called and asked to join the National Judo team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dan was an international competitor in Judo for almost two years, winning several medals along the way. It was during this time that he met Amy, his wife. Dan decided to settle down and raise a family.

Dan began working for the Teller County Sheriff's Department in Cripple Creek, CO, in 1989. He was also a Reserve officer for the Cripple Creek Police Department. Soon after, gambling was legalized for the Cripple Creek Historic District, so Dan put himself through Colorado's Basic Police Academy, in hopes of joining the Cripple Creek Police Department as it was bound to expand it's three man force.

Dan graduated third in a class of about 30 recruits, and was hired soon after academy by a small town in southwestern Colorado called Campo.

Wanting to continue to further his career, Dan accepted a position with Guymon, Oklahoma, Police Department. He worked there for over two years, at which time he was offered a job as a deputy in Kansas.

Haskell County, Kansas was Dan's next stop, working as a road deputy for about 16 months. In that time, he became the assistant training officer for the department.

But Dan just couldn't stay away from Oklahoma. Guymon Police Department re-hired Dan for a short while, until the Chief's position came open in Arapaho. And THIS is where the Chief intends to stay!

Chief Dan, as his D.A.R.E. kids call him, has two fantastic boys. Jesse is 9 and Russel is 12. The Chief and his family own a 17 ft. Bayliner inboard/outboard ski boat, which they run quite a bit on Foss Lake. A pretty big reservoir, Foss is only about 15 miles away. Russel is hot into wakeboarding and Jesse is getting started on the kneeboard.

The Chief and his boys are known to do a lot of fishing in the warmer months. They camp any time they can during the summer at lakes all over the state. Amy goes along to keep it all from being total chaos, and to make sure they don't spend too much money.
