SPYDRMN'S POLICE PATCH
Collector's Homepage
In September of 1873, 150 men were recruited in the existing Provinces of Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. No person was to be appointed to the Force unless he was of sound constitution, able to ride, active and able bodied, of good character, between the ages of 18 and 40 and able to read and write in either English or French. The men were required to engage for a period of three years. At the end of their time, if their service was satisfactory, they would be given a free grant of 160 acres of land in the Northwest Territories. The original 150 men, made up of three divisions, A, B, C, Divisions, departed Collingwood, Ontario, for Fort Garry, Manitoba.
