Most people have the idea that accountants are a bunch of no-fun "suits" lacking any sense of humour. They think that they count money or "beans"all day and would shut down a poor house is there was a buck to be made.
Well, I want to dispell these myths and rumours! Accountants do not count money all day, they are financial artists. Their broad understanding of an organization's financial position allows them to help sculpt of mold it towards its goals or desired position. They are experts in debt-to-equity and without them, a large organization would likely crumble unto itself.
Accountants themselves come from all walks of life and enjoy all types of hobbies. You probably have one living on your street! Most give of their time to manage the finances of charities, churches, and other non-profit organizations. It is a dynamic field of work, and hey, the money isn't half bad either! B-)
