John Scott is a local man, who has lived and worked in Ayrshire all his life, raising his family here, and contributing to the local community. He is a local farmer and is involved in the setting-up of the town's 'farmers market'. He has a son and a daughter. He is also a JP. |

Rita Miller lives and works locally. She has a proven track record as a hard working and popular local councillor, and a present is a councillor for South Ayrshire on the community services committee. She is married with two children and has lived in Ayrshire for 24 years |

Jim Mather is 52. He is a chartered accountant and has been involved in IT since joining IBM in 1973 and founded his own computer business in the 1980's. Since selling the business in 1996 he has been involved in helping young technology companies in Scotland and is a leading force which wishes to build bridges between the SNP and business. He is married to Maureen, who is from Ayr, and they have two teenage children. He enjoys reading, cycling and 'high-handicap' golf. |

GREEN - Gavin Corbett |

Gavin Corbett was born and brought up in Cumnock (village near Ayr) and has strong family connections with Ayr. He is 34 and for the last seven years has worked as a senior campaigner with homelessness charity Shelter in Edinburgh. He has held a number of positions with the Scottish Green party including Executive Convenor and Housing and Planning Speaker. He chaired the party's campaign group during last year's successful Scottish Parliament elections. |
