We, the undersigned citizens of Europe,
by common assent in recognizing the European values and human
rights, the regionalism as a component of our European system,
hereby make public this
CALL FOR ACTION
in support of the proTRANSILVANIA Foundation, established in April 1999 in Cluj (Romania), and banned on November 13, 2000, by the Court of Appeal of Cluj
We think that the basic human rights cannot be subject to any negotiations or political games.
The freedom of association and freedom of expression are integrated elements of the democratic system, guarantees of protection of the individual and its freedom.
On the other hand, in civilized Europe regionalism is the expression of decentralization and subsidiarity set forth in European official documents. The autonomy and regional development and the preservation of regional specifics and minority protection - goals of the proTRANSILVANIA Foundation - can be found also among the objectives and strategies of both governmental and non-governmental structures of modern Europe. The individual must become the manager of its own welfare.
The bodies of the Romanian State must understand that the European integration means primarily the integration in a system of values rather than the adaptation to a variable political geography. This system is the guarantee of social health and welfare.
Therefore, we ask for a new authorization as soon as possible of the proTRANSILVANIA Foundation and a closer involvement of international bodies as it concerns human rights issues in Romania.
November 2000.
