The Elk Rapids Police Department is a full service law enforcement unit which covers the Village of Elk Rapids. The Village of Elk Rapids is located in southwestern Antrim County. It is along the shores of East Grand Traverse Bay in the northwestern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan.
The department consists of the Chief of Police and four full-time officers and one reserve officer. The department has two primary patrol units to cover the Village, a 2002 Chevrolet Impala and a 2005 Chevy Tahoe. Each unit now carries a defibrillation unit for to heart related medical calls.
The Village is also covered by the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office. and the Kalkaska Post of the Michigan State Police.
