Domestic Violence is defined as the physical,
psychological or emotional abuse of a child or adult by another with whom
they are acquainted or related. Domestic Violence can include spouses,
siblings, partners or even persons in a dating relationship. It can even
escalate to the use of weapons and ultimately, death.
Domestic abuse is a social issue and
a community problem affecting
families of all races, rich or poor....
Domestic Violence is often a learned response
to anger passed down from generation to generation, an overreaction to
problems or inability to cope with stress and pressures of day to day living;
thus violence becomes the abuser's way of striking out. It will become
more severe and frequent over time. It is a crime and a family problem
which rarely stops without intervention and professional help.
