Everytime I try to concentrate on my family and financial goals in life, it always crosses my mind that it doesn't matter how well I live if I can't have the freedom to worship my God the way I want to and defend what is (and those who are) precious to me. ETR is one man's attempt to help correct the moral decline that is sweeping our nation by arousing others of like mind to do the same. ETR tries to stay away from character assassination, but in many cases it is necessary to expose the wickedness of exeptionally evil and greedy men and to "mark those who cause division among you" such as the pope, President you-know-who and his largely sodomite cabinet, and others.
A Need for Action Within the Christian Community
It has been said that the last area of society that is influenced by a particular philosophy is the political arena. Let's apply that to the philosophy of secular humanism that has been seeping through the cracks of the moral sewer. It has taken over:
- The hearts and minds of the people
- Philosophy, ethics
- The educational system.
- The media establishment
- Arts and culture
- The religious order.
...and it has almost succeeded in the political arena. That's when many Christians started getting worried - when they took prayer out of school and yanked the Ten Commandments down! When attitudes started changing against morality in general, many Christians just complained or started saying things like "it's the last days" or "this world is going to Hell in a handbasket." Good observation! Now what?! We have the choice to either observe or perform. We have observed long enough to the point where it is almost too late to perform. But THERE IS HOPE! It will be a sad day indeed when Christians lose hope for a better world. In fact, there is no reason to be here if we can't make a difference for Jesus Christ! If we can't teach love to a dying world, we are wasting our time in this life. Granted, no amount of works will get you to heaven, but ONLY a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Rom 10:9). But we must occupy until he comes (Lk. 12:43) BECAUSE the world is dying. We must rebuild society from the bottom of congress right up to the hearts and minds of the people. When they gain complete control of the political arena they will force their hellish philosophies on you and your children. The key word here is force - something many moral Americans lack.
Why the Focus on Politics?
Contrary to the beliefs of many good Christians past, the Christian should play an active role in politics, because politics boils down to people! Yes - People! It has the power to make good (and much needed) role models for the younger generation, not to mention shape the views and opinions of the social realm. Christians can use the power present in politics as a vehicle for bringing our nation back to Jesus and the Biblical stand that made our America so great! A stand for Jesus and Biblical Standards is a stand against satan and his evil devices, which he uses to lure God's people into darkness. Just think of how many countless souls would have been saved if Russia had let the Word of God into her Godless society.
Ungodly Leaders=Ungodly Nation
Leaders must be held accountable for their actions, because they can do more damage than a common man. A good example is that one lunatic can only kill ten or so people (or 200+ if he really tries), but a wicked leader can kill untold millions with the motion of a pen. I do believe that there is a special place in Hell for ungodly leaders (Lk. 20:47). In many ways the leader is only a reflection of the hearts and desires of the masses, but we must also remember that wicked leaders were responsible for the moral fall of the Children of Israel many, many times in the O.T. We are now finding this out the hard way, when our president bends the law to aquaint the practices of an immoral minority such as sodomites, abortionists, new agers & false teachers etc. We MUST RESIST the spread of immorality at all costs in these last days.
Americans Chase "Pipe Dreams"
We get caught up in "running the rat race" until that's all we know. We must have a change of pace in life if we are to experience the fullness and joy that God intended. We have many pleasures and "things to do" which we think are relaxing, but we kill ourselves trying to attain them; thus the increase in heart attacks and other stress-related disorders. Americans have time to make money, but no time for their families. People have time to get an education, but no time to sit and talk for hours on end. It's hard to get someone to just sit still and do nothing for over an hour anymore! People are too busy trying to achieve "success" (whatever your definition may be!) and make a name for themselves. Slow down, America! Life doesn't stand still for anybody!
Pleasure doesn't come from God or fellowship with others anymore; it comes from external materialistic things like movies, trivial ball games, television etc. Of course, these things can be expected from the carnal world of self-gratification, but it doesn't have to be (and shouldn't be) the attitude of the true believer. That's the whole (and really only) difference between the carnal man and the Christian. The Christian is (should be) self-sacrificing, and the carnal man is self-gratifying.
People will never cease to talk about "the good ol' days when God used to move." If we are to see God move like he did in the "good ol' days," we have to begin living like they did back then! The younger generation (of which I confess I am a part of) has got to get HUNGRY FOR GOD! Americans don't know pain and hunger like they used to. They are all fat and content to wallow in the bowels of lukewarm Christianity. More and more I am starting to see that the church elders (particularly senior citizens) DO actually know what they are talking about when they speak of how and when God moves. Bottom line: We are going to have to get HUNGRY if we are to see the power of God in action, because that's what God wants to see - His people yearning for Him. Isn't it nice for you to see someone you love desire you every now and then?! We must return to WORSHIP and HUNGER FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS or God is not even going to blink at us.
"Love thy neighbor as thyself"
The love of Jesus Christ, in familiar terms, is taking a bullet for a total stranger. That is the example that Jesus set for us when He climbed up on that cross for our souls. No one pushed Him up there, He did it of His own accord. It's the Christian Standard, whether we live it or not and whether we like it or not. I believe that much of what Jesus taught can be summarized as such: Fear God and love man.
The words in red are the only words that can truely save us, and anything contrary to them is a lie. Even the Apostle Paul, who named himself the chief of sinners, yet turned out to be the greatest gospel preacher of all time, cannot save us from sin. Only Christ.
So What Exactly IS Ministry?
Ministry is doing the work of God, and 95% percent of it is done outside the four walls of the church by individuals. This has been one of the central themes I have stuck to ever since I first started ETR last year, and I have been trying to drive this point home for the longest time to others. The church is an institution, but the Body of Christ is the collective mass of believers world-wide. The church is a place for the Body of Christ to be refreshed & renewed, but the Body of Christ is the force behind the ministry.
It isn't the preacher's job to do all the work: It is yours, because everyone is called to ministry and to proclaim the Gospel. If it's doing mailouts, distributing flyers, utilizing electronic media, going door-to-door, stopping people on the street to talk about Jesus, WHATEVER! God has a job that is specifically designed for YOU! Everyone is called to do something more than sit on a pew and listen to sermon after sermon!
Wherever there is a God-shaped void, we must seek to fill it with the Word of God. ETR is here to proclaim the message: We must work, both to build up God's Kindgom and to tear down the devil's; the time is short and the harvest is ready.
"Let thy garments be always white, and let thy head lack no ointment. Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity...for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labor which thou takest under the sun.
