Christians Called to be Disruptive and Unruly

You probably think I'm a little too far out there in left field on this one! But it's true: Christians were called to raise the roof! That is, if we're living like the Bible tells us to:

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance with his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."

Matt. 10:34-39

Act Out in Public

"Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee."

Isa. 12:6

This one was true from the very beginning! Everywhere the apostles went, they were acting out in public. They did what would be today equivalent to shouting and praising God while running down the most crowded aisle at Wal-Mart. And not only that, they got other people to scream and shout with them! They were literally screaming about the goodness of God. They weren't ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that's for sure.

Be a Non-Conformist

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God."

Romans 12:2

Consider what the world thinks is "in":

If you are a 501(c)3 tax exempt church, start being more vocal. Talk out against sensitive issues like abortion, homosexuality and government corruption. If they close the doors, we can always have church in our homes! If it's a crime to witness, start sending out letters to people in the phone book. Let's call people we don't know and tell them about the Love of Jesus Christ (after all, that's what Christianity's all about)! Hang signs up reminding people that Jesus is Lord!

The church is going to be overcome in the last days anyway (Rev 13:7), why not do the best we can to deserve it? Let us see how many sinful laws we can break; be a non-conformist.

Defy Civil and Religious Authority

"...Did we not straightly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles said, We ought to obey God rather than men."

Acts 5:28-29

This one was especially so for the apostle Paul. In fact, every time you turn around Paul was in jail. Imagine what would be said in many modern (self-righteous) churches about a preacher who had a prison record like Paul! Paul was indeed not a middle class working man in a three-piece suit. He told civil and religious authorities the way it was, and he barely escaped death on many occasions.

Christians need to really work on this one. Many have an "authority complex," in that they believe that authority figures are actually stronger or better than they are! Everyone listens to the "experts." These "experts" (so-called) say some very stupid things (a doctor of psychology once said that you should recommend divorce to your kids so that they will know how to handle a strained marraige). We must obey authority, but never think they are anything that we are not. We are all from the dust of the earth (Ps. 103:14, Ecc. 3:20). Thus, many parents tell their children to just "tell the teachers what they want to hear" about theological and scientific errors like evolution and natural selection. That's no way to stand up to the devil. In fact, that's called teaching your kids to be spineless. What would Jesus think of you, gutlessly agreeing with the world by saying that the Bible is just mythology, all to make a good grade? The best report card in the world won't help you in Hell.

Obey civil authority when it is Godly, defy it when it is secular and satanic. When you put yourself, the believer, under the boot of satanic authority, you subject He that is in you (Jesus) to the same.
