My name is Todd Jayne. I was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but spent most of my childhood years overseas. My mother and step-father were teachers in American schools overseas, so we travelled alot. I lived in Perugia, Italy; Vienna, Austria; Tripoli, Libya; Cairo, Egypt; Tunis, Tunisia; Paris, France; and Luxembourg, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. I graduated from the American International School of Luxembourg, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, as an Infantry Marine.
I went to boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and graduated three months later. From Parris Island, I went to Camp Geiger, North Carolina, where I attended Marine Combat Training (MCT), and the School of Infantry (SOI). I graduated from SOI as an 0341, Mortarman, and was shipped to Okinawa, Japan, where I joined the 3rd Light Armored Infantry Bn. at Camp Schwab. About 2 months after arriving in Okinawa, I was deployed to Subic Bay Naval Base, in the Republic of the Phillipines. I spent ten and a half months in the Phillipines, and then returned to Okinawa. At this time, I extended my tour in Okinawa, and was transfered to the 3rd Training, Readiness, and Tactics (TRT) Plt., at Camp Kinser. At TRT, I was an Instructor of Infantry Tactics. Some of the classes I taught were Patrolling, Land Navigation, Call for Fire, Boobytraps, and Defensive Perimeter Tactics. I spent the next year at TRT, and met my wife, Dawn at Camp Kinser.
Upon our return to the States, Dawn and I got married. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, with the Third Bn, 2nd Marine Regiment (3/2), as a forward observer, and Dawn was stationed at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station, approximately 40 miles away. This is where our son, Conor Patrick was born.
Approximately three months after getting to 3/2, I was transfered to 1st Bn., 6th Marine Regiment (1/6). Once there, I was deployed on a six month "float" in the Mediterranean Sea, aboard the USS Austin, with Bravo Co. 1/6. Bravo Co.'s mission was that of boat deployment, and as such, we trained extensively with Zodiac boats. The ports we stopped in were : Rota, Spain; Gibraltar; Turkey; Morrocco; Haifa, Israel; Venice, Italy; and Barcelona, Spain. We also spent about a month floating off the coast of Bosnia.
When we got out of the Marine Corps, Dawn and I moved back to Indianapolis, Indiana, which is where Dawn was from. Since then, both of our daughters, Haley Michelle, and Kaitlyn Adele have been born.
Currently, I'm an officer with the Brownsburg Police Department, located in Brownsburg, Indiana. Brownsburg is located about 7 miles west of Indianapolis, along I-74. It is a community of about 20,000, and the Department is made up of about 30 officers. As well as being assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division, I am also the Commander of the Underwater Search and Recovery Team.
Other than scuba diving, my hobbies include martial arts (I currently hold a 2nd degree Brown belt in Shorei Kempo Karate), shooting, and spending time with my family
