On Thursday, December 2, 1999, First Lady Hillary
Rodham Clinton accepted delivery of the 1999 Official White House Xmas
Tree. The Official Tree, an 18-foot Noble Fir, was grown in Martin
WA by the Hedlund Family of Elma WA and delivered by traditional horse
and carriage to the South Lawn of the White House. Singers from the
BET Urban Nation Voices of Youth H.I.P.H.O.P. choir, conducted by Ricky
Payton of Washington DC, sang traditional holiday carols, while Santa Claus,
portrayed by Secret Service Agent Jim Shea, greeted guests.
