on the 20th of July 1974 a major CRIME was committed against CYPRUS.Among the villages occupied by Turkish troops is my own village Lefkoniko which is situated in the Mesaoria plain between Famagusta and Nicosia. Just before the invasion and occupation its population was over 2000. Most of its people were farmers and used to cultivate their land and produce wheat. During the invasion they had to move from their homes and move south beyond the occupation line to save their lives.
Some years later on 1985, Turkish troops committed another crime. They covered our land with concrete. The land that for thousands of years used to feed Lefkoniko people was used to build an enormous military airport.
I myself, the people of Lefkoniko and all Greek Cypriots demand:
Is it much? (pamboscy@geocities.com)
