Astronomy, theater, dance music, photography, fishing, science fiction, opera, paintball, Scouting, gaming, reading, and dancing are my hobbies. In this page you can see some of Screech Owl's favorite haunts. Screech Owl is my Mic-O-Say tribal name. After 14 years of adult leadership in Scouts and seven as a Scoutmaster, the name fits. My emphasis leans towards Science but do not be surprised at some "Unique Finds." These may range from informative to odd. Contents of the Nest
General goal to this site is to explore the following pages of interest.
While the primary purpose is to expound on Astronomy and locate in the Cape Canaveral neighborhood. The second major goal is to expand on support to Diabetics and their family and friends. Thirdly developing a resource for the RPG Bloodshadows (c) by West End Games. Other areas that are of interest to me will pan out as the site grows. There are many wonderful single focus sites. My nest is as it states: a nest: a conglomeration of debris woven into a comfortable home or home page.

Seeing stars shine in the night sky has always perked my intrest in what lies beyond the earth. My first telescop was a 60mm refractor on a wooden tripod. I could see the moon clearly, the rings of Saturn, and the moons of Jupiter. Mars and Venus were little more than colored spots. My interest grew with photography and bigger scopes
You can enjoy the spectacle on a clear winter night. Binaculars increase your vision of the moon and scanning for comets. Some binoculars are very good for hiqh quality sightings. Telescopes range from the variety store inexpensive refractive and reflective models. These little scopes let you see the major moons of Jupiter and locate the planets. But if you don't like the cold, and don't have the time or telescope to go out into the field for a clear sky, try a visit to Stars and Beyond.

For those interested in doing some backyard viewing links to Sky and Telescope magazine tells you about current events in the night sky. The third part relates to examples of different types of Astronomy: optical, spectral and radio.

Do you have Diabetes? Unless you have tested for it, you may not know. Most people find out when something else goes wrong. Organ failures, quiet silent heart attacks, and not so silent major heart attacks can be a result.
Whether you just found out you have Diabetes, know someone who has it, or don't really know what the "Silent Theif" can do visist this page for links for information.

For people who love to visit Virtual Places. Don your avitar picture and go chat in rooms up to 25 people with the entire web as your background. Gestures can be played. A gesture is a wave file with a picture or animated gif attached. A tag or description line is viewed by those who do not have the gesture. Similar to playing wav files in AOL but with pictures and tag lines.

Are you an RPG person? I have been doing RPG since the old Strategy and Tactics game with little cardboard chits developed beyond historic recreations. Fantasy games emerged and have developed all kinds of interesting things since the first Dungeons and Dragons module spun off from these war games.
West End Games brought you the Star Wars RPG and it has been one of their biggest hits. They developed a gaming system that works for all kinds of genre game. These range from Tank Girl, Men In Blace, Species and Bloodshadows. While the former are movie themed, Bloodshadows goes back into the world of the big crime syndicates.
You are a detective and you solve the mysteries. Simple is it not.
In Bloodshadows, you live on Marl. A planet very similar to Earth, but
magic is the basis of technology. Unnaturals are very diverse and may be good or bad. Unity and Chaos fight to dominate Marl. Your weapons are similar to a Thompson machine gun, a pistol, or shotgun
but the good news is you may buy rune slugs to fire spells. Whether
they work or not is your problem.
Bloodshadows does not seem to have a following on the web. The only sites sell the books, but not much information about people who play it. There is a group of Jihad, or The Masquerade players using the name Blood Shadows for their Vampire RPG. Let me know if you too are into this game. I have played it for almost 5 years and my friends keep coming back to it.

Are you visually impaired or know someone who is? Do you get tired eyes from reading tons of E-mail. (I do). A friend of mine, Nahdia, told me about WillowTalk(TM). It reads your email, or just about any other page you are on. Sounding like the Talking Moose from old 512k Mac over a decade ago, this program does very well. It has 9 voices to choose from in the demo version and happily reads whatever pager you are on. Check it out. If you like it buy it to get all the added features. |
