Depth of Picks - Each time you pick someone, you give theem a vote to make the team. See what people have been picked so far, and how many times.
Here is how you tell me your picks:
1. For Each
Event - You get two (2) free picks, the only exception being the 100 and 200
Freestyle where you get six (6) free picks. On the 100 and 200 free, your Top
2 will be your picks to swim that event in the Olympics, the rest are your
relay and alternate picks that are based off the 100 and 200 Free. Remember
that in the Olympics, the women swim an 800 Free and the men swim a 1500
Free. 2. You may choose to make additional picks selected as other people who could possibly make the event if your first ones do not make it. For each additional pick you make, it will adjust your final score. Read about scoring for more info on how these picks can affect you. 3. Your swimmer does not compete or DQ's. If your pick disqualifies, tough luck. If your swimmer performs badly because they are sick, tough luck. If your swimmer never enters the meet, tough luck. If your swimmer scratches an event you had selected them for, tough luck. However, if your swimmer is entered in the meet and scratches ALL events due to unforeseen events (sickness, accident...), the points you receive will be adjusted. Read about scoring for more info on how this can affect you. 4. You are really determining the Top 2 finish at finals of Olympic Trials. Should one of those swimmers refuse to represent the U.S. in that event, they will still be counted as making the Olympic Team for the purposes of this game. 5. Relay teams will not count in this game. 6. There will be separate categories for Women's team, Men's team, and combined. |
Here is how it will be scored:
10 Points | For each one of your Top 2 picks that makes the Olympic Team in that event |
5 Bonus Points | For correctly predicting the finishing place for one (1) of your Top 2 picks. (Your #1 pick gets first at trials, or your #2 gets second) |
8 Bonus Points | For correctly predicting the finishing place for both of your Top 2 picks. (You successfully pick 1st and 2nd place at trials) |
100 Bonus Points | For correctly predicting the finishing place for your Top 6 100 or 200 Freestyle picks (You successfully pick 1st - 6th place at trials) |
3 Bonus Points | For each one of your 3rd - 6th picks that makes the Olympic Team in the 100 or 200 Freestyle. |
Extra Picks explained
|
If you pick more than 2 swimmers (or 6 in the 100 or 200 free) for
any event, the swimmers picked as 3rd or lower are labeled your possibility
picks. For each of your possibility picks that makes the Olympic Team,
you will earn points based on this formula: # of possibility picks / 5 points = # of points you receive for each possibility pick that makes the Olympic Team in that event. If none of your possibility picks makes the Olympic Team in that event, you will be penalized 2 points for each pick. |
20 Bonus Points | For each moth prior to July that you enter, you will receive an automatic 20 Bonus Points. For example, entries in July receive no bonus points. Entries in June receive 20 bonus points. May entries receive 40 bonus points. April: 60 points. |
