Why should I wash my aircraft?
From the beginning of powered flight, aviators have understood the necessity for a clean aircraft. A clean aircraft is more fuel efficient and a wash and wax helps to prevent corrosion. Much like automobiles, an aircraft requires a clean engine to properly dissipate heat generated during powered flight. Residues on the engine surface and cowling prevent this normal process and inhibits it's performance. Dirt and residue also creates drag.
Our process is simple. A pre-soak to help loosen dirt, insects and chemical residues. Followed by an application of soaps, de-greasers and waxes. The aircraft is then rinsed with reverse osmosis water and a high pressure sprayer. At all times during this process, the utmost care is taken with the surface skin and interior of the aircraft and the application of all of our products is safe and ecologically sound. We use R.O. water for a spot free rinse and only soaps, detergents and waxes that are designed for aircraft detail.
Under F.A.A. regulations F.A.R 43 (Appendix D) scope & detail, you are required to clean your aircraft every annual/100hr inspection. The F.A.A. requires an annual every twelve calendar months.
But beyond FAA regulations, there are many reasons to keep your aircraft clean. It's an investment in pride and personal accomplishment, and a safe and enjoyable recreation when maintained properly. Air travel is a luxury and that luxury demands the proper attention and care.
A&P does the work, we know the aircraft. Don't trust your aircraft to just any wash.
