Book Browsing

It is a little embarrasing to talk about books when I have not read nearly as much as I would have liked to in the past dozen of years. Nothing can more readily showcase my paucity of knowledge than the empty bookshelf! But what is a(n)(e)house without a(n) (e)bookshelf?!

Treasures in my eyes

One Hundred Years of Solitude

Lonesome Dove

Growing Up

Wayfarers

The Lord of Rings

Moby Dick

The Portrait of a Lady

The Tale of Two Cities

Of Mice and Men

Memorables--Good books; but fail to make the first cut (The gap is big, though).

The Time Machine and the Invisible Man

Girl with a Pearl Earring

The Da Vinci Code

Brave New World

The Catcher in the Rye

The Sun Also Rises

Lolita

To Kill a Mockingbird

Dune

Angela's Ashes

The Bridges of Madison County

Harry Potter

The House of Mirth

Prince of Tides

A Prayer of Owen Meany

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

Catch 22

Fields of interest--I occasionally check out books in a particular field. Since I know even less on these topic, usually it is the first book that holds the special position in my mind.

The Orchid Thief

A Beautiful Mind

The Problems of Philosophy

The Bell Curve

Touched with Fire

Hereditary Genius

Reading Gao Xinjian

How to Win Friends and Influence People

Motivation and Personality

The Elements of Style

Word Freak

Arguables--Much acclaimed books that I fail to appreciate.

Fahrenheit 451

Weicheng

Unreadables--I almost always finish the book I've started, even if I don't like it. Sometimes a book can be so bad or incomprehensible that I have to walk away halfway through. Occasionally I would still be upset whenever something reminds me of it (like preparing this page). So these books get to hold a "special" place here while hundreds of others simply fade away.
