The Cape from Space (Brevard County Florida). Note the Shuttle landing
strip in the upper portion, with the two shuttle pads up in the upper right.
The VAB (Vertical Assembly Building) is the bright spot southwest of the
pads. Launch pads line the coast around the Cape itself (easternmost
point). The towns of Titusville, Cocoa, Rockledge, and Melbourne
are on the mainland side (north to south). Cape Canaveral, Cocoa
Beach, Satellite Beach, Indian Harbor Beach, and Indialantic are oceanside
(north to south). Merritt Island is the island and town between the
mainland and the ocean barrier islands. The Canaveral National Seashore
(Playalinda Beach) starts just north of the northern shuttle pad.
