Astronomy Courses at Beirut Arab University.

The Lebanese Astronomical Society "L.A.S" (Originally known as: The Lebanese Amateur Astronomical Society) was founded in BEIRUT, LEBANON by a group of amateur astronomers.

The objective of the society is to promote the Sciences of Astronomy and all its branches. This is done by holding regular meetings and viewing nights, distributing astronomical information, and encouraging popular interest in Astronomy.

General meetings are held twice a month. These meetings usually feature a presentation or group discussions on many subjects in Astronomy and are designed to assist newcomers to become familiar with some aspects of Astronomy.- There is usually something of interest for everyone.
(see The Society and Activities)

In addition to the regular meetings the society also holds Viewing Nights and Public Star Parties to introduce the night skies and allow the public to view the Stars, Planets and other astronomical objects through one of the large telescopes of the society.

Membership to the society is open to all people of all ages .The only prerequisite is an interest in Astronomy. You do not need to own a telescope to join.

Anyone interested in joining the society needs to send a Registration form or E-mail to lebast@geocities.com requesting to join the society. We will then send you all information about the society, the schedule and place of the meetings. It would be preferable to include in your email a brief description about yourself . This would help us to put you with  the appropriate group of people who are of  your age, profession, and people who hold  similar general interests with you.
