I enjoy both spinning and knitting in my spare time. I am currently president of the Maine Spinners' Registry. This group puts out a quarterly newsletter and has an annual meeting where spinners from all over Maine can keep in touch and learn from each other. I am also a member of the Northeast Handspinners Association, but have not been able to spend a great deal of time being involved in this group. Maybe in a few years I will be able to do more with them. They are responsible for holding The Gathering which we sponsored in Maine the first year that I started spinning. We will again be sponsoring the Gathering in 2008.
During the summer I spend my time working in the office of a local whitewater rafting company. For many years I was a guide. I gave it up to get married and have children. Being in the office keeps me in touch with the rafting industry and also gives me some income during the school summer break. I have my own small raft and kayaks and my family goes often.
