Birdsfoot Trefoil

This member of the Pea Family sports bright yellow flowers measuring 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) long in small, flat umbels at end of the branches with 3 to 6 flowers in each cluster. Leaves are compound with 3 leaflets 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) long, and 2 leaflet-like stipules at the base of the stalk (some references state 5 leaves - 3 upper and 2 lower).  This low clover like plant ranges from 6 to 24 inches (15 to 61 cm)  in length and can be found in fields and along roadsides. Flowers bloom from June to September.
