Well I ended up with a Lian-Li Pc 70 for the case. Last weekend I stripped it apart. Completely.
I removed the fan grills from the rear, and from the PSU plate. I was also able to get 3 coats of primer on it.
One coat a day with sanding in-between. I didn't like the sanding part but it was one of those necessary evils :)
To the left is the new power supply case I made. Yes it looks like crap, Thank You. It's to be hidden in the corner of the shop out of site so functionality > aesthetics !

You know all that effort so far and if you don't look at it from the rear you can't tell I did anything to it yet :(
