Shear Comfort Genuine Sheepskin Seat Covers

Crossbred and Tanned in Australia

Made in America

Shear Comfort is concerned about your driving comfort. We are committed to bringing to you the best designed and manufactured seat cover possible. Using the time tested formula of mixing the best with the best, we start with Australian sheepskin pelts because only their fibers have been genetically crossbred for bounce and spring. And they are tanned for washability. Next we cut and sew each seat cover using a pattern designed to fit your seat like a glove. We provide you with wraparound driving pleasure year after year.

Why this sheepskin feels so good to sit on

A Shear Comfort sheepskin seat cover has "recoil" or "memory." Compress the wool fiber, release it, and it will quickly recover to its natural size and shape - time after time.

You can see how this happens under a microscope. Each wool fiber is made up of long, narrow chains which are cross-linked to other fiberlike rungs on a ladder. And each is coiled (See illustration 1)

When the fibers are compressed, they react like the springs on your car. Release the pressure and they return to their original shape. That is why a Shear Comfort sheepskin seat cover always provides you with a soft and cushiony ride. Your driving pleasure is our first concern.

IN THE WINTER - YOU STAY WARM

Illustration 2

The millions of springy wool fibers keep you separated from your car seat as you ride on a "cushion of air" (see illustration 2). It is Mother Nature's own Climate Control. That air space insulates you from the car seat and immediately becomes your own body temperature (see illustration 3). With Shear Comfort sheepskin seat covers, those icy cold seats are a thing of the past.

IN THE SUMMER - YOU STAY COOL

The "cushion of air" also insulates you from hot and sticky seats; keeps you feeling cool during summer months. Gone is the "hot shock" of sitting on vinyl or leather seats exposed to the sun.

But wool fibers possess another miracle - natural absorption. When the relative humidity of the air is higher than that of the sheepskin leather, moisture travels through the internal straw-like shafts and is absorbed like a sponge (illustration 4). Amazingly, the leather will hold 33 percent of its own weight in water without feeling damp. So on those hot days, the wool fibers drink up moisture and keep you feeling dry.

Why sheepskin from Australia

In the early 19th century, when other countries were concentrating on sheep flesh development (for meat production), Australian ranchers were striving to upgrade their Merino sheep's wool quality. They imported four basic strains of sheep: Peppin, Saxon, Spanish and French. The resulting crossbred wool, known as "Australian Merino," now commands a premium price on the world markets. Australian tanneries have first choice for the best pelts. They have been producing washable sheepskin for generations. Usually Australian sheepskin which has been tanned in another country is volume produced and not washable.

Shear Comfort utilizes Merino-crossbred sheepskins raised and tanned in Australia because of four exceptional characteristics: dense fleece, fine fiber quality, recoil, and washability. When added together, the result is a sheepskin perfectly suited for seat cover manufacture. See an example
